See what it looks like
A fiat-backed stablecoin issuer publishes a monthly reserve attestation by an accounting firm. What does it give a token holder?
- AA full audit of the issuer's financial statements and internal controls.
An attestation is narrower than an audit: it reports on specific statements by management, not on the whole accounts or the controls.
- BAn independent check that, on a stated date, the reserves matched what the issuer reported.
Correct. It is a point-in-time check of management's statement about the reserves. Read its date and scope before relying on it.
- CA legal guarantee that every token can be redeemed at par at any time.
Redemption rights come from the issuer's terms and the applicable law, not from an attestation.
- DConfirmation that the reserves are held in segregated, bankruptcy-remote accounts.
Segregation is a legal and custody arrangement. An attestation may not cover it; check the terms and the report's scope.
